Rounded leaves with nicely ruffled margins that are a bit twisted, and come to a fine, sharp tip. The color is an unusual, soft blue-green with a waxy haze in the spring, but the wax quickly melts away as the leaves brighten to yellow. A shocking purple flicker blazes up the wide petioles, halfway up the center vein, and fans out through the side veins in the base of the leaves.
